Highlights

Hubs

We are launching SDGs Impact & Innovation Hubs in 10 States. These would be a combination of the best and least performing States in terms of their SDGs targets. These Hubs would comprise of change makers across policy, corporate, popular culture, NGOs, and relevant leaders from those cities/states of India who will be positioned as Goalkeepers who can on the issues they care about and innovate in their communities to achieve the Global Goals.

Given the comprehensive and integrated nature of the SDGs, it is critical to bring together the entire spectrum of stakeholders – including local governance institutions, line departments and agencies, district administration, financial institutions, and the private/ public sector. The focus will be on Local Targets, Local Solutions, Local Campaigning, Local Influencers.

These hubs will be a localized solutions-oriented task force of multi-sector corporate, NGO, UN agencies, media, popular culture leaders, civil society from each State. And these individuals will become the flag-bearers, or goalkeepers, of the SDGs in their respective States.

Alongside the core members in our Hub, a wider task force of activists across all sectors will be developed. The Hub will constantly be evolving and expanding. We would encourage them to run their own campaigns and activities and what we would do is provide tool kits, resources and amplification support to create awareness of those activities.

Hub member’s role would be to

  • Meet every quarter with a clear agenda to stimulate discussion around the SDGs targets progress/challenges, help to identify/create solutions.
  • Publicly report on progress/challenges through traditional and new age media channels such as via an SDGs Report Card.
  • Participate in on-ground campaigning so that the conversation around SDGs filters down to the masses and becomes common household chatter
  • Meetings to be documented on public-facing website, attached to the Summit and 10-year strategy, where commitments are recorded and logged with a live tracker and ranking. The website can also have a redressal section, for people to report on-ground feedback/problems, which content teams can immediately bring to light and press for action.
  • Through our media reach, we would regularly publish news articles as well as ‘report cards’ to ensure the general public is aware of those commitments and can hold their leaders accountable
  • Our changemakers will also report the commitments through their networks via a variety of initiatives/activities.
  • Hub members to encourage their network to take up the SDGs.

Plenary

Stimulating visionary talks, debates and bold analysis will mix with impact-oriented projects, challenges, and strategies. The focus will be on how wider debates can be influenced, and these Plenary sessions will also spotlight real changemakers such as nurses/farmers/common people.

Hackathon

A search for the next generation of leaders committed to steering the global changes we wish to see by inventing tools and curating ideas with the potential for development for social good. An international contest to be launched inviting entrants to submit their ideas with a focus on technology. The winner then enrolls in an incubator program where their idea would be catalyzed.

  • A large-scale live hackathon to be held on the 15th November
  • Problem statements to cover key sub-goals of the 4 goals selected as the key themes for this year’s summit, i.e. health, education, climate change, and water
  • Nominations to be received till 30th October
  • Hackathon to have at least 50 start-ups, 35 from India and 15 from across the world
  • Hackathon to be judged by the goalkeeper committees on the day of the event and 3 winners from each category get to pitch their ideas in detail to potential investors
  • The winners also to become part of the task force of the goal committees to explore potential projects and financing
